In the clip, you first see Ariela sitting with baby Avi saying, “It’s nerve-wracking to me that my parents are going to be here any minute and baby and I are not in a good place. It doesn’t bode well for the rest of their trip,” implying that she and the baby are not well enough to go out, and Biniyam must greet her parents on his own.
The scene changes to see Biniyam, who looks a bit nervous, waiting at the airport for Weinberg’s mother and father to arrive. “Ariela has told me a lot about her father. Her father is a doctor and wealthy, so I am anxious to meet him.”
Cameras captured the first moments as Weinberg’s mom and dad arrive at the airport and greet their future son-in-law, who hugs each of them and hands them each a small bouquet of flowers. “I want Ari’s family and her to have a good impression of me. I want them to feel happy that Ari and Avi live here with me in Ethiopia.”
Ariela’s father seems surprised by the gesture of welcome from Biniyam. After sharing a hug, Dr. Weinberg grins and says, “A real live person instead of just pictures.”

Ariela’s mother helps ease the tension by asking him, “So does he remind you of Ari?”
He replies with a nervous laugh, “Yeah, of course she look like him. Especially the baby. He look like Dr. Weinberg just.” (sic.)
At this point Weinberg’s mother points out that Shibre is referring to him as ‘Dr, Weinberg’ again, rather than dad, and there is a bit of a familiar nervous exchange between the two men before Shibre finally says, “In my culture, you have to call like dad, like-”
Dr. Weinberg interjects, “I’ve become Dad.”
“Yeah,” Shibre finally says with another nervous laugh. “Welcome to Ethiopia, Dad, like. And my mom, my sweet, sweet mom.”
For a show that’s usually rife with drama and unhappiness, it’s nice to see things go so well for a couple.
