Em maio deste ano, a NASA e a SpaceX anunciaram que vão filmar o “primeiro filme narrativo fora da atmosfera da Terra”, com Tom Cruise como o protagonista no espaço sideral. Doug Liman vai dirigir o filme na Estação Espacial Internacional (ISS).
Logo depois, o Canal Um da Rússia, em associação com a agência espacial russa Roscosmos, foi à caça de uma atriz com os ângulos das axilas corretos para estrelar o filme espacial do país.
A produtora do filme espacial russo é Yellow, Black and White, e seu título provisório é Challenge , de acordo com o site da Roscosmos . De acordo com o site, o filme está sendo feito com o objetivo de educar o mundo sobre as atividades espaciais da Rússia “e também glorificar a profissão de cosmonauta”.
A lista de requisitos para os candidatos potenciais ao papel da atriz principal do filme inclui os seguintes critérios:
- Idade: 25-40 anos
- Altura: 150-180 cm
- Peso: 50-70 kg
- Cilha do peito: até 44 pol.
- Máx. largura dos quadris na posição sentada: 16 pol.
- Max. distance between the angles of armpits: 18 in
Moreover, the applicant should also be sufficiently physically fit; she should be able to run 1 km in under 3.5 minutes, freestyle swim 800m in 20 minutes, and dive off a 2m high diving board.
Only Russian citizens will be allowed to participate in the auditions, which they can do by submitting a screen test of themselves reading a passage from Eugene Onegin by Alexander Pushkin.

After the screen test submission, selected candidates will have to undergo an extensive psychological, medical, and physical screening process – a year’s worth of preparation, which will be mandatory before embarking on the ten-day shoot.
The Russian team has made it clear that they need “more than just an actress – a superhero.”
The one-of-a-kind film will begin shooting in October 2021. The actress will travel to the floating laboratory in a Russian Soyuz spacecraft and “have the opportunity to fulfill their most romantic dreams and go to the stars — and become a big international star.”

Feitas as avaliações médicas, alguns candidatos escolhidos passarão por um treinamento de três meses na Cosmonaut School, após o qual serão escolhidos dois concorrentes finais – a protagonista do filme e sua substituta.
Além da atriz principal, também haverá alguns atores masculinos que serão escalados para papéis coadjuvantes no filme.
